Botswana. Route by car.

3 months road trip in Southern Africa,
Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, Lesotho and Swaziland.
October - December 2014.

Route in Botswana: from October 11th til 20th 2014
 (9 days / 9 nights).

This was our route in Botswana, driving a small rental car (Ford Fiesta, rented in Johannesburg) and camping:

-         Martin´s Drift Border (SA-Botswana)
-         Letlhakane (1 night)
-         Maun (3 nights)
-         Gweta, 5 km east, Planet Baobab (1 night)
-         Nata, 55 km north, Elephant Sands (1 night)
-         Kasane (3 nights)
-         Ngoma Border (Botswana- Namibia)

Total: 1.575 km (on tarred roads)

Yes, you can cross Botswana with a small sedan car, roads are fine. We did it!
To go inside the parks, it´s sandy and you need a 4X4.

Will I see other travellers in Botswana?
Yes, you will, in Maun and Kasane and the route between them. These places in Botswana are important tourist destinations. But never too crowded outside holidays.
We saw independent travellers, most of them travelling with big 4x4 with roof tent (hired). Also many people from South Africa. Big organised groups of overlanders (travelling by big trucks). No backpackers.
But in fact travelling in Botswana is great for everyone! Keep on reading our posts!
